The Music Paint Machine is a tool that supports me in my search for knowledge, skills and experience in different music-related domains of interest, such as philosophy, music education, technology, human computer interaction, ...
But it is not a tool in the instrumentalist sense of the word, as a mere means to an end that serves the realization of predefined goals. Rather it is a "milieu" that is in-between these different domains of interest, creating a multiplicity of possible views, practices and experiences. |
Elaborating the conceptual design, discussing it with soft- and hardware developers, doing research with, discussing with teachers and writing about it, all of these activities constitute a becoming: becoming-musician, becoming-teacher, becoming-researcher.
